Dry-mix mortar is a modern building technology that allows economical and environmental, extremely thin-joint (~2mm) alternative to the traditional mortar. More than 98% of global AAC block installations are done using thin-joint mortar.
Magicbond Dry Mix is a thin-joint, high strength adhesive for quick and firm laying of AAC blocks. It is a computerized, factory-mixed mortar made of cement, graded sand and blended with polymers to impart high strength and water retention properties even when laid at a thickness of 2-3mm. Controlled manufacturing process ensures that the output quality is consistent across batches and as per pre-determined technical specifications. The Magicbond dry mix mortar is subsequently delivered to the construction site in bags or special silos and only water needs to be added at the site prior to the use. The physical and chemical properties are pre-tested in laboratory so that there is no scope for inconsistency of constituents or binding and other properties.
Features Of AAC Block:
1) High Bond Strength:
MagicBond is prepared with proprietary technology and the polymeric additives and binders ensure that the high bond strength (>3.4Mpa) is achieved leading to superior masonry strength and excellent load-bearing capacity.
2) No Shrinkage Cracks:
Water is retained in mortar, thus prevents shrinkage cracks.
3) Consistent Product quality:
Factory-controlled, computerized manufacturing process ensures that no human intervention is required from mixing stage to packing stage. Hence, the output quality across batches is pre-determined and consistent. Since MagicBond dry-mix mortar has high water-retention properties, there are no shrinkage cracks in the thin-joint mortar application process. The MagicBond laboratory tests are also available and can be provided upon request.
4) Faster Construction:
Since the material is pre-mixed and only water needs to be added on site - there is no additional element of preparation which reduces the logistical complexity and makes the block-laying process much simpler. Mortar thickness of only 2mm is enough to bind the blocks together reducing not only the effective time required to join bricks but also the number of joints required as the Magicrete AAC bricks are much larger in size. Also, due to the polymeric content of the mortar, the setting time of dry-mix is much less than conventional mortar and hence the plastering of the site can start almost in a day – reducing the construction of the site by almost half.
